The Story Behind The Brand
It started with one of our grandads.
The kind of man who took pride in his home — always did. But watching him spend hours, day after day, slowly working his way through fallen leaves and debris on his paths and patio, we couldn't help but think: there has to be a better way.
The walkways around his back door would get slippery in autumn. He'd be out there, sweep by sweep, hour by hour — when really, he should've been enjoying his garden, not fighting against it.
The idea of a blower seemed obvious. But when we started looking into it, every decent option was either eye-wateringly expensive, shipped from the other side of the world, or backed by a customer service team that was anything but local. If something went wrong, you were joining a queue thousands of miles away. Him and anything 'tech'? Forget about it.
So we thought — what if there was a proper UK option? A brand and product built with British customers in mind. Real support. Real people. No runaround.
And that's how SHIFT-IT was born.
'What's with the name?' you may ask, well... That came from grandad, too.
You see, up north, we don't waste words. 'Ey up', 'Nowt' and 'Now then' to name a few, and 'Shift' would often get used when something needing moving... often followed by 'that', 'them' and 'It' — he'd say it to the dog, to us, to anyone daring to slow him down.
So when it came to finding a suitable name to carry us forward, it just felt right. No fluff, no overselling: it does exactly what it says it will.
Eighteen months of finding the right manufacturers, getting the quality right, and making sure we weren't just adding another product to the pile — we aimed to offer something worth owning... something that actually solves a problem.
Our mission is simple: give people their time back. Cut the chore in half. Whether you're a homeowner or gardener clearing a tight space, a tradesperson or car detailer taking pride in how you work — every garage, workshop, tool kit and work van deserves one.
We hope you get as much joy out of using it as we have bringing it to life, and we hope - more than anything - it can help you get rid of the mess and save you time.
Keep on shiftin', UK.
